Here at Shooters Grove Primary School we are proud members of the Sheffield Children's University (CU).
Sheffield Children’s University is part of a national initiative that encourages and celebrates participation in a wide range of learning opportunities outside of normal school hours.
Children are awarded one credit for every hour they participate and these hours add up to earn Children’s University Awards. Every time a child reaches 100 hours of extra-curricular learning they will attend a graduation ceremony with other CU award winners and even get to wear a CU cap and gown for the experience!
Registers are kept for all of the clubs attended at school (sports clubs, choir, JAM club, board game club etc) and these are sent to the CU which means your children will already be collecting credits!
Your child can also collect credits away from school at different learning destinations across the city. From swimming lessons and gymnastics classes to days out at the farm or to one of Sheffield’s museums, there are lots of opportunities to be collecting credits. To do this your child will need a Passport to Learning which can be bought from our school office or local library for £3.50.
If your child attends out of school activities and they are not yet a CU learning destination, you can nominate them to become one by contacting the Children's University.
There are also lots of fun and exciting activities for your child to collect credits taking place during the school holidays. We will send the ‘Festival of Fun’ newsletter out before each school holiday.
You don’t need to use the Passport at school-run activities. All hours collected in a Passport to Learning will add those collected in school.
